The Air Force School was established on July 18, 1955 by Late Air
Chief Marshal, Subroto Mukherjee who was the Chief of the Air Staff. The school
is located at Aravalli Campus, Subroto Park, Delhi Cantonment. It aims to
provide modernized educational facilities to the wards of the officers serving
the Indian Air Force, Indian Navy and Army. Besides, this school is also open
for civilians.
Air Force School along with other schools like Air Force Golden Jubilee
Institute and Air Force Bal Bharati School is operated by IAF Educational and
Cultural Society. This school is a coeducational public school of Delhi and it
is affiliated under the Central Board of Secondary Education. It is also a
member of National Progressive Schools' Conference and Indian Public Schools'
Conference.
At +2 level, this school in Delhi offer four main streams, which include
Humanities, Science( Non Medical), Commerce and Science( Medical)
Besides, regular classes there are different kinds of extra curricular
activities conducted in this school where students can participate. Some of the
Air Force School's extra curricular activities are painting, wood work,
journalism, electronics, dance, sculpture, music both instrumental and vocal.
Students can also take part in different school clubs like photography, wildlife
and nature club, music and science club.
The Sports Authority of India gives coaching in Hockey, Basket ball and
Football. Other activities of this school includes trekking, mountaineering,
adventure camps and rock climbing.
